This session was one of the simplest, yet one of the most moving experiences of my life. Ryleigh is a local model and artist, and a dear friend of mine. When we finally came together for this shoot, everything felt natural. One camera, one lens, one light source, stripped down in a way I’m not usually used to. There are many things I take away from this session, but above all, Ryleigh, thank you for helping me fall in love with photography again.

One thing I notice in these images is the stillness in Ryleigh’s eyes, a quiet confidence, a sense of ease. It’s not something I see often when photographing people. That calm could be attributed to her natural photogenic ability as a seasoned model, but I like to believe it comes from the awareness that the person behind the camera is a friend. Someone who truly sees her.
